2010 Shape of the Nation Report

This report, created by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education and the American Heart Association, assesses the current status of physical education in each of the states and the District of Columbia through a number of constructs, including: time requirements, exemptions and substitutions, class size, standards, curriculum, instruction, student assessment, program accountability, teacher certification, National Board Certification status, state coordinator requirements and body mass index collection. These factors are instrumental in providing schoolchildren with the quality physical education they need to live and grow.
