On Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. EST, Leadership for Healthy Communities will host a webinar entitled, Making the Connection: Linking Economic Growth to Policies to Prevent Childhood Obesity. This webinar will highlight the important links between economic growth and public health, and explore ways to implement policies that improve both.

The webinar will enable policymakers, communities and supporting organizations to explore successful strategies—including active design development, improved public and recreational spaces and increased access to affordable and healthy foods—to strengthen the economy while supporting better public health.

The webinar will feature:

What Leaders are Saying

Absolutely, childhood obesity reduction should be a priority issue for mayors. It is becoming a real health epidemic and it’s something that leaders have to address. This is not just an obesity issue but a future-of-our-children issue.
Manuel "Manny" Diaz, former president, U.S. Conference of Mayors
